AKA King Cocktail, developed his extraordinary techniques and talent tending bar at great establishments, most notably New York’s famous Rainbow Room, where in the ’80’s, he pioneered a gourmet approach to recreating the great classic cocktails. DeGroff has since been credited with reinventing the bartending profession, setting off a cocktail revival that continues to flourish.
Winner of two JAMES BEARD AWARDS for Wine & Spirits Professional and Life Achievement Award –Who’s Who in Food & Beverage, author of The Essential Cocktail and The Craft of the Cocktail(Random House),. Dale DeGroff’s enormous influence in the bar world has spanned three decades.
DeGroff is also a partner in the award-winning Beverage Alcohol Resource (BAR), a comprehensive training course led by six of the world’s leading spirits and cocktail authorities: Dale DeGroff, Doug Frost, Steve Olson, Paul Pacult, David Wondrich, and Andy Seymore, providing a complete education in spirts and mixology.
DeGroff is also the founding president of the
Museum of the American Cocktail (now part of the Southern Food & Beverage Institute in New Orleans)
